History in Technicolor
Home to countless achievements in drama, music, film and studio arts, the Hopkins Center for The Arts at Dartmouth College holds a legacy that stretches far back into history. To celebrate the schools 50th anniversary, Ross Ashton was commissioned to generate a projection art show, displayed on the face of the very building itself. In a 13-minute sequence projected onto the centers front five windows, a beautifully animated account of all the past and future achievements Hopkins has contributed to the world of art unfolds. Drawing from student input and the Ivy League reputation Dartmouth strives to exceed, Ashton has built a nostalgic but motivating piece, reflecting upon the past but also pressing towards future progress. Look closely to see some of the most significant moments in Dartmouth’s history repeat themselves- and to take a peek into the future.
